a note from the artist

Hi there!

My name is devereaux and I'm the artist. Thank you so much for taking the time to explore my site. I assume if you have made it this far you are interested in getting to know me better. If that's the case, please make sure to find me on my social platforms. I am fairly active online and would love to connect with you! It means the world to me that you take an interest in my life and my artwork.

I wish you all the best and as always, stay creative!

I tend to romanticize parts of my life, especially when I travel; that’s when my soul feels most at peace. The food always tastes better, the mountains look more majestic, skylines seem taller-and flowers? Flawlessly vibrant. Almost as if each scene is politely asking me to paint it.

When I bring reference photos back to my studio, I want to recreate exactly what I experienced, with an emphasis on how I felt in those moments- like a personalized filter.

From a technical standpoint, dry brushing is my favored technique to maintain a smooth surface on the canvas. The lack of physical texture preserves an aspect of realism, while saturated color and soft visual edges draw out a romantic feel.

Because of these intentional stylistic and technical choices, my finished work manifests itself as realism through the feminine gaze.
